A short drive from Queenstown led me to the historic gold-mining town of Arrowtown, a charming village filled with heritage buildings, boutique shops, and cafes. Wandering the tree-lined main street felt like stepping back in time. I spent the morning exploring the local museum, before settling in for lunch at a café where the fireplace was roaring and the coffee was strong.
Queenstown’s culinary scene is world-class, and I made it my mission to try as much as possible. Rātā, Botswana Butchery, and Aosta stood out as favourites—each offering incredible local produce with creative flair. I also explored nearby Gibbston Valley, sampling some of the region’s finest wines. A leisurely afternoon of tasting pinot noirs and cheese platters, surrounded by vineyards and snowy peaks, felt like pure bliss.
