Sunny Portugal

Sunny Portugal

Welcome To Portugal

My Sunny Portugal tour with Collette in November was an unforgettable experience, filled with rich history, stunning scenery, and the early magic of the holiday season. Over 10 days, I travelled from Lisbon through Évora and the Algarve to the Portuguese Riviera, enjoying a perfect blend of guided sightseeing and time to explore on my own.

Lisbon

Lisbon was the perfect place to start. I wandered through its charming neighborhoods, admired the tiled buildings, and tasted some of the best pastries I’ve ever had. One highlight was visiting the beautiful Belém Tower. Standing beside the river with the sun setting behind it, I could almost feel the centuries of maritime history the tower has witnessed—it was magical.

You had me at Monchique

Next was Évora, a city that felt like a step back in time. I loved exploring its cobbled streets, ancient Roman ruins, and quiet little squares. It had such a peaceful, old-world charm.

Then came the Algarve, with its dramatic coastline and relaxed seaside vibe. One of my favorite moments was visiting the quaint village of Monchique, tucked away in the mountains. It was so peaceful and picturesque—full of narrow streets, local artisan shops, and views that stretched for miles. I even tried medronho, a local fruit brandy that definitely warmed me up!

Early Christmas Delights

Since it was November, I got to enjoy the beginning of the Christmas season, which added something really special to the trip. While the Christmas markets weren’t officially part of the itinerary, I stumbled across a few in Lisbon and other towns. The smell of roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, cinnamon pastries, and grilled sausages filled the evening air, and the twinkling lights made everything feel extra festive. It was such a lovely, cozy surprise that really brought the spirit of the season to life.

Adios Portugal – I will be back

Change to the combination of rich culture, natural beauty, festive spirit, and unforgettable highlights made this journey truly heartwarming and enriching. I came home with a full heart, a camera roll full of memories, and a deep appreciation for everything Portugal has to offer.
