Our First Family Holiday in Paradise
Some holidays leave you with beautiful photos. Others leave you feeling quite emotional when it’s time to say goodbye.
Our six nights on Vomo Island in Fiji did both. It was our first family holiday with our son, and quite literally the perfect place to make those memories together. For me, Vomo was the epitome of island barefoot luxury – beautiful, relaxed and so special.
Golden sunsets, soft white sand and precious family moments made every evening on VOMO Island feel magical.
Beachfront Living and Island Adventures
We stayed in a beachfront villa, just steps from the crystal-clear water. Having the beach right on our doorstep was everything I could have hoped for from an island escape.
We joined snorkelling trips, enjoyed a hike and had a private breakfast in our villa one morning.
Crystal-clear, shallow waters and beautiful sandy beaches made VOMO Island the perfect place to soak up the Fijian sunshine.
Little Ones Looked After, Parents at Ease
What made the biggest difference to us as a family, though, was the care our son received. Our wonderful nanny, Andi, looked after him throughout our stay. She was so attentive and clearly loved spending time with him.
Knowing he was being cared for with such warmth meant we could relax and enjoy the holiday too. Four hours of babysitting were included each day during our stay – a wonderful inclusion when travelling with a little one.
The warm smiles and genuine hospitality of the Fijian staff made our stay at VOMO Island even more special.
Time to Unwind at The Rocks
Vomo also has an adults-only restaurant and pool called “The Rocks”, giving adults the option of some quiet time (and a few chilled margaritas!).
That balance was a big part of what made this holiday work so well for us. We could enjoy being away as a family and still have space to unwind ourselves.

An Island We Can’t Wait to Return To
Vomo gave us beautiful surroundings, wonderful food and time to enjoy our first family holiday, with people who made us feel so well looked after.
It’s a place I’ll remember with enormous affection, and I cannot wait to go back.
