Ziplining in Fiji: Soar Through Paradise

If you’re looking to add a dose of adventure to your tropical escape, ziplining in Fiji is an experience you won’t want to miss. With lush rainforests, dramatic landscapes, and sweeping ocean views, Fiji is home to some of the most exhilarating zipline tours in the South Pacific and Zip Fiji Momi is among the very best.

For our family, the perfect holiday strikes a balance between relaxation and adventure. We love easing into resort life, unpacking, unwinding, and soaking in the slow pace but equally enjoy stepping out for a bit of excitement. One of the highlights of our trip was, without a doubt, our ziplining day at Zip Fiji Momi.

Zipline 3

Our adventure started with a private transfer from the Sheraton, taking us on a scenic 45-minute drive to the park. Along the way, we passed through charming Fijian villages. On arrival, we were welcomed by the warm and enthusiastic Zip Fiji team their genuine hospitality instantly set the tone for the day.

After checking in, we were fitted with harnesses and helmets and received a thorough safety briefing. The guides were fantastic, knowledgeable, attentive, and reassuring, especially helpful for the kids.

Zipline 1

The zipline course includes 16 giant lines that span across canyons, caves, and mountaintops. The longest line stretches 250 meters and offers heart-racing speeds paired with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and the ocean beyond.

The entire experience took around three hours, taking us through three unique ecosystems and offering an unforgettable way to see Fiji from above. A highlight of the tour is flying through the historic OHO Cave, where ancient Fijians once sought refuge, a reminder of the island’s deep cultural roots.

After the last thrilling zip, we returned to base camp for a light and satisfying lunch of sandwiches and fresh tropical fruit just what we needed after an action-packed morning.

Zipline 4

Before heading back to the hotel, we made a detour to Natadola Bay for a peaceful horseback ride along the beach. It was the perfect contrast to the adrenaline of ziplining, quiet, scenic, and slow-paced. We finished the visit with fresh coconuts, kindly offered by local vendors, a simple but unforgettable island moment.

Horse

After a day filled with adventure, natural beauty, and family fun, we sank into the comfort of our private transfer back to the resort. One of the perks of a private driver? The freedom to make spontaneous stops, like a quick ice cream break, much to the kids’ delight.

We arrived back in the late afternoon, pleasantly exhausted and with phones full of memories, from soaring through the treetops to riding horses along one of Fiji’s most beautiful beaches. It was a brilliant day.

My son and daughter couldn’t get enough of the trapeze; they were absolutely hooked! Having never tried it before, they were a bit nervous at first, but the staff were incredibly supportive, cheering them on and making sure they felt safe and confident. It’s just one of the many activities at Club Med Bali that kept our children entertained. The friends they made at archery, on the soccer pitch, in the cooking class, and in the pool made the experience even more special. On our final day, some of their newfound friends cried as they waved goodbye to them, they were sad to part ways! Our children didn’t want to leave!

Bass Strait Rock and Roll: A 2-Night Azamara Escape

In February 2025, I embarked on a delightful 2-night getaway aboard the Azamara Onward, sailing from Melbourne to Adelaide via the Bass Strait. Though short in duration, this cruise was packed with memorable experiences, impeccable service, and a touch of unexpected adventure.

From the moment I stepped aboard in Melbourne, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. The ship, with its elegant yet relaxed ambiance, struck a perfect balance between comfort and sophistication. My oceanview stateroom was both cozy and well-appointed, offering a peaceful retreat with stunning views of the open sea. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room came with thoughtful amenities that made settling in effortless.

Katrina on the Azamara Onward

One of the highlights of the voyage was the food. Each meal felt like a celebration of flavor and creativity. Whether dining in the main restaurant or grabbing a casual bite, the culinary offerings were consistently exceptional. From beautifully plated seafood dishes to decadent desserts, every bite was a treat. The attentive waitstaff added to the experience, offering thoughtful recommendations and ensuring that every detail was just right.

Entertainment on board was lively and engaging. I especially enjoyed the trivia sessions, which brought guests together in friendly competition. The evenings were filled with music and dancing — the live band had everyone on their feet, and the silent disco was an unexpected favorite. It was such a unique and fun experience dancing under the stars with everyone grooving to their own rhythm, headphones glowing in the dark. Laughter and energy filled the lounges, and the sense of community among guests was truly heartwarming.

Aqualina Restaurant

As we sailed across the often unpredictable Bass Strait, the seas turned rougher than expected, and I experienced a bout of seasickness. While it was an uncomfortable surprise, what truly stood out was how the ship’s crew responded. The staff were incredibly attentive and compassionate, checking in regularly, offering remedies, and ensuring I was as comfortable as possible. Their genuine care and professionalism transformed a difficult moment into a testament to Azamara’s outstanding service. I was deeply impressed by how well they looked after guests, going above and beyond to make sure everyone felt safe and cared for.

Azamara Staircase

By the time we approached Adelaide, I felt a deep appreciation for the voyage and all it had offered. Though short, this cruise delivered a perfect blend of relaxation, fun, and fine dining, all set against the backdrop of the ever-changing sea. The rough waters may have brought a few challenges, but they also revealed the true strength of the Azamara team — their ability to provide exceptional hospitality even under less-than-ideal conditions.

This 2-night escape was a wonderful reminder that a quick getaway can still be rich in experience and full of joy. I disembarked in Adelaide with great memories, a few new friends, and a strong desire to cruise with Azamara again in the future.

A Journey Through India’s Golden Triangle: A 7-Day Luxury Adventure

Traveling is more than just visiting places – it’s about immersing yourself in the culture, history, and soul of a destination. In early April, I embarked on a seven-day journey through India’s iconic Golden Triangle – Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur – with a finale in the serene city of Udaipur. What made this trip unforgettable wasn’t just the destinations but the seamless blend of luxury and exploration, punctuated by stays at The Oberoi’s most exquisite properties.

Old Delhi

Day 1- 2: Delhi

After a flight from Singapore, I landed in the heart of India – New Delhi. I checked into The Oberoi New Delhi, an urban oasis nestled amidst greenery with sweeping views of Humayun’s Tomb and Delhi Golf Course. The rest of the day was at leisure, allowing time to adjust, enjoy the hotel’s fine amenities, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

The capital city welcomed me with open arms. With a full-day itinerary, I explored Delhi’s vibrant contrast – from the historic charm of Old Delhi’s bustling bazaars to the architectural grandeur of New Delhi’s wide boulevards. Sites like the Red Fort, India Gate, and Qutub Minar showcased the city’s layered history. Delicious Indian meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) added flavour to the cultural immersion.

Delhi Red Fort

Day 3: Delhi to Agra

Early in the morning, we departed for Agra, home to the world’s most famous symbol of love. Upon arrival, we explored the magnificent Agra Fort, followed by a tranquil visit to Mehtab Bagh, a garden offering a peaceful view of the Taj Mahal at sunset. The night was spent in unparalleled luxury at The Oberoi Amarvilas, just a stone’s throw from the Taj.

Agra Red Fort

Day 4-5 : Sunrise at the Taj & onto Jaipur

Few experiences compare to watching the Taj Mahal at sunrise – ethereal and timeless. After breakfast, we hit the road toward Jaipur, stopping at the ancient stepwell of Abhaneri along the way. By evening, we arrived at the palatial Oberoi Rajvilas, a resort that feels like stepping into a Rajasthani fairy tale.

Jaipur, the Pink City, dazzled with its royal heritage. From the majestic Amber Fort to the City Palace and the intricate Hawa Mahal, every corner told a story. The day was filled with exploration, color, and the rich flavors of Rajasthani cuisine. Another night at Rajvilas ensured we rested like royalty.

Day 6 – 7: To Udaipur

A morning flight took us to Udaipur, the City of Lakes. We spent the day soaking in the charm of the old city on a guided walk and a private boat ride on Lake Pichola. The evening light glimmered over the water, casting reflections of the palaces. Our stay at the Oberoi Udaivilas elevated the experience – it’s not just a hotel, it’s a destination in itself.

Our final day allowed for optional activities, from shopping in local markets to relaxing spa treatments. After a final lunch, we flew back to Delhi for our return to Singapore.

Udaipur Oberoi Udaivilas

This journey through India was nothing short of magical. Each city had its own unique energy and stories, and staying at The Oberoi properties added a layer of comfort and elegance that made the trip feel seamless. From ancient forts to peaceful lakes, and bustling streets to tranquil gardens, this was a luxury trip woven with history, culture, and unforgettable experiences.

My Avalon Active & Discovery on the Danube Journey

The Avalon Active & Discovery on the Danube cruise stood out to me because it offered so much more than a typical river cruise. It wasn’t just about floating from one city to the next. It was about choosing how I wanted to explore each day, with the perfect mix of activity, culture and comfort.

Alisa Danube River

Choosing My Own Kind of Adventure

What I loved right away was the freedom to choose. Each stop along the Danube gave me options: Active, Discovery or Classic excursions, depending on how I was feeling that day.

I went kayaking through Vienna and cycled through the Wachau Valley, passing vineyards and villages with incredible views. Other times, I took a slower pace with hands-on cultural experiences. A visit to Schönbrunn Palace was a standout — exploring the opulent rooms and strolling through the grand gardens gave me a real sense of imperial Vienna. I also visited a working Trappist brewery where the beer was as rich in flavour as it was in history. One of my favourite moments was spending time at a local farm, wandering through a beautiful apricot orchard, tasting fresh fruit straight from the tree and learning how it’s made into jams and liqueurs.

Every day felt like it was designed around what I actually enjoy, not just what’s on the itinerary.

Alisa Schronbrun Palace

Life Onboard: My Floating Sanctuary

The ship was stunning. My Panorama Suite felt more like a modern hotel room than a cabin, with floor-to-ceiling windows that opened up to the river. Castles, forests and small riverside towns created the most peaceful backdrop.

Mealtimes were a highlight. The food was always fresh and beautifully presented, often inspired by the region we were sailing through. I really appreciated how the menus reflected where we were, giving me a taste of the culture at every meal.

Avalon Illumination 2

The Kind of Travel That Fits Me

This trip let me travel the way I like to, on my terms. I could be as active or relaxed as I wanted, and every day brought something different.

I never felt rushed or stuck on a schedule. It felt like I was really getting to know each place, not just passing through.

Alisa Cycling Vienna

Would I Do It Again?

Absolutely. This cruise gave me more than just a look at Europe. It gave me memorable experiences I could feel and take home with me. Whether it was the people I met, the food I tasted, or the quiet moments on the river, everything felt personal and meaningful.

If you’re looking for a trip where you’re in control of the experience, where you can mix adventure with relaxation and luxury, Avalon’s Active & Discovery on the Danube is the way to go.

Gliding through Tracy Arm Fjord

The constant changing landscape sailing through Tracy Arm Fjord, a narrow, glacier-carved passage flanked by towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls had us in awe of the untouched paradise. The highlight is the sight of calving glaciers—massive chunks of ice dramatically breaking off and splashing into the sea. A Constant changing landscape

Hidden Gem – Port of Sitka

Arriving in Sitka felt like stepping into a living tapestry of cultures . I wandered through the quiet streets as they set up for the 4th of July parade (the next day), then switched gears with a nature excursion where I spotted eagles soaring overhead, playful sea otters bobbing in the water, and even caught a glimpse of a bear in the distance. With its charming waterfront and lush, green forests, Sitka quickly became one of my favorite stops.

Sitka

Juneau – 4th of July

Alaska’s capital, Juneau, is a treasure trove of adventure. Accessible only by sea or air, it offers a remote and rugged experience. We joined the Ships shore excursion to Mendenhall Glacier &  Whale watching, The drive was spectacular.  Arriving at Mendenhall we were greeted by a local guide who  showed us the best trails to access not only the closest point to the glacier but to stand near a roaring waterfall! WATCH OUT FOR BEARS!.

After a few hours of exploring we were transferred to a local Whale Watching charter – now this is what you come to the inside passage for – whales! We were so fortunate to see 2 sets of  mother and calf. It was long day but every part was worth it!  And to top it off the fact that we arrived on July 4th adds a special celebratory vibe.

Exploring the Salmon Capital of the world – Ketchikan

Known as the “Salmon Capital of the World,” Ketchikan is rich with native culture and natural beauty. We Strolled along the historic Creek Street boardwalk and made our way to visit the Totem Heritage Center, on our walk back we could hear lots of laughter and shouting- Ahhhh the Lumberjack show, this sounded fantastic and such a great way to experience the Alaska culture.  We slowly made our way down the main streets back to the ship and discovered so many hidden gem Christmas shops – I could worry about my luggage allowance later right ?

This bustling little town offers a perfect snapshot of Alaskan life.

Daily High Tea at sea

One of the most delightfully refined—and surprisingly filling—experiences aboard Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth was afternoon tea in the Queen’s Room, Offered every afternoon at 3.15pm

The moment I stepped into the grand space, with its chandeliers, velvet drapes, and a string quartet playing something suitably swoony, I felt like I’d wandered into a scene from Downton Abbey—minus the drama.

White-gloved servers floated by with trays of finger sandwiches, warm scones (with clotted cream and jam), and picture-perfect pastries that were almost too pretty to eat, I chose a classic Earl Grey from the proper tea menu and did my best to sip with grace.

There’s a certain magic in this timeless tradition. It’s elegant, but not stuffy. You don’t need a title to enjoy it—just an appetite and maybe a slightly raised pinky. Watching the ocean drift past while enjoying tea and treats felt like the ultimate slow-down moment at sea.

It’s more than just a snack. It’s a ritual—served with silverware, ceremony, and just enough charm to make you feel royally spoiled.

High Tea At Sea Savoury

Each day felt like a new postcard: waterfalls falling down rocky cliffs, whales waving their tails like they were saying, “Welcome to Alaska,” and small towns that seemed frozen in time, somewhere between old and new.

The formal dress at dinner wasn’t too fancy—it just made the whole experience feel special and elegant.

From silent discos to historic cocktail classes and lively pub trivia, Cunard is nothing like what you expect—it’s actually way better!

Paris After Dark – Cabaret, Culture & Croissants

Paris is always a good idea, but seeing it with a group of fellow adventurers made it even better. We kicked things off with a welcome dinner at Grand Café Capucines, followed by a nighttime drive past the city’s glittering landmarks and a stop at the Eiffel Tower. But the real highlight? A night at the Moulin Rouge. The lights, the costumes, the energy. It was pure Parisian magic. Earlier that day, we explored Montmartre, wandering cobbled streets and soaking up the artsy vibes where legends like Picasso and Van Gogh once roamed. We explored Sacre Couer – The viewpoint is the best in the city! Make sure to arrive early to avoid the crowds! It was the perfect mix of culture and cabaret.

Château Life in Beaujolais – Wine, Yoga & Poolside Vibes

Staying at the Contiki Château in Beaujolais felt like stepping into a dream. Picture this: sunrise yoga on the lawn, wine tasting (with sabrage, of course), and a poolside picnic surrounded by rolling vineyards. We even had a glam dinner on the terrace with Contiki’s CEO, complete with Euro-chic outfits and a side of karaoke. The château had this laid-back, fun energy that made it impossible not to relax and enjoy every second. It was one of those places where you instantly feel like you belong.

Pintxos & Pamplona Nights

Crossing into Spain, we made our way to San Sebastián and then on to Pamplona, where the vibe totally shifted in the best way. We wandered through the Old Quarter, tasted pintxos (tiny bites of deliciousness), and followed in Hemingway’s footsteps at Café Iruña. That night, we strolled along the city’s glowing ramparts before settling in for dinner. Pamplona had this cool mix of history and energy that made it feel alive, even after dark. It was one of those unexpected gems that totally stole the show.

We wrapped up the trip in Barcelona, and it was the perfect finale. From the jaw-dropping architecture of La Sagrada Família to the sweeping views from Montjuïc, the city was full of color, creativity, and charm. We watched street performers, explored Gaudí’s masterpieces, and ended the night with a celebration dinner that felt like a proper send-off. Exploring China’s Wonders

China offers a perfect blend of ancient history, breathtaking landscapes, and unique cultural experiences. My journey took me from the bustling capital of Beijing to the stunning landscapes of Zhangjiajie, the historic city of Xi’an, and the vibrant charm of Chengdu, culminating in an unforgettable adventure.

Tiananmen Square

The trip began in Beijing, where history and modernity converge. The Forbidden City was a mesmerizing introduction to China’s imperial past, with its sprawling courtyards and ornate pavilions. We then ventured to the Great Wall, choosing the Mutianyu section for its panoramic mountain views and fewer crowds. Walking along the ancient stones was both humbling and exhilarating. Other highlights included the Temple of Heaven, an oasis in the city’s heart, and exploring Beijing’s bustling markets.

Overview Great Wall Of China

Next, we flew to Zhangjiajie, home to one of the world’s most otherworldly landscapes. The Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is famed for its towering sandstone pillars that inspired the floating mountains in Avatar. We ascended the Bailong Elevator, a glass elevator scaling a 1,070-foot cliff, offering breathtaking views. Hiking through the misty trails, surrounded by these majestic formations, was like stepping into another world.

Avatar Mountains Zhangjiajie

The adventure continued to Mount Tianmen, known for its dramatic landscapes and the world’s most dangerous road: the 99 Bends Road. The bus ride up this serpentine route was nerve-wracking yet thrilling. At the summit, the glass walkway clinging to the cliffside tested our nerves, while the climb to Tianmen Cave, also called Heaven’s Gate, offered stunning views and a sense of accomplishment.

Hells Gate

Our next stop was Xi’an, a city steeped in history. The Terracotta Warriors, with thousands of life-sized statues guarding Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s tomb, was awe-inspiring in both scale and craftsmanship. Beyond the warriors, Xi’an’s City Wall provided a unique perspective as we biked along its ancient ramparts. The lively Muslim Quarter offered a culinary adventure, where we savored lamb skewers, cold noodles, and other local delicacies.

Terracotta Warrior

The journey concluded in Chengdu, the home of China’s beloved giant pandas. At the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, we watched these adorable creatures munching on bamboo and playing, a heartwarming experience. The city itself charmed us with its relaxed vibe and mouthwatering cuisine. We indulged in the fiery flavors of Sichuan hot pot and strolled along Jinli Ancient Street, enjoying its traditional architecture and vibrant atmosphere.

Our trip with Wendy Wu Tours was fantastic from start to finish. Everything was included—flights, hotels, meals, sightseeing, and transport—making it completely hassle-free. We had a National Guide with us throughout the entire journey, as well as local guides in each destination. Their knowledge and insights were invaluable, especially when navigating the language barrier, which is essential in China. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a well-organized and immersive experience.
